INTEGRATED & FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Integrative Medicine
Interactive medicine is a holistic approach combining traditional treatments and alternative therapies to treat the body. The idea is not to focus on a singular physical health problem the patient may be experiencing but rather healing the body as a whole, balancing the mind, body and spirit.
We believe that the physical, social, emotional, mental and environmental influences in a patient’s life can have a great impact on his health. Integrative medicine addresses any issues in one or more of these areas that may be throwing a patient off balance and approaches his health problems through this lens, treating the whole body, instead of a particular symptom related to a single health problem.
Interactive medicine includes therapies such as medication reduction therapy, detoxification, regenerative medicine, and nutritional therapy with the use of herbal medicine, supplements, and naturopathic medicines. Such treatments are combined with traditional treatments to ensure more effective and faster results.
Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is a method that restores health by addressing the root of the disease or condition thus focusing on the optimal function of the body. Optimal function is achieved when every organ of the body functions at its best potential, allowing the entire body to function in the best way possible.
Functional medicine understands that people differ in genetics and biochemical makeup and therefore follows a personalized approach for each individual patient combining diagnostics and treatment. To understand a patient’s individual needs, this approach is based on scientific research and testing.
Functional medicine uses natural supplements to cure problems in organs and in the body as a whole when possible or else incorporates some benefits of traditional medicine.
Functional medicine also addresses health issues with lifestyle changes including suggestions of an exercise routine, a change in diet and sleep patterns as well as ways to reduce your stress levels. Examples of functional medicine include massage, naturopathy, acupuncture, body movement therapies, osteopathic medicine, chiropractic medicine, yoga and tai chi.
